Valencia is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain of that there is no doubt. However there are many other places in the country that are well worth a visit. If you are going to travel to the country it is well worth it to visit some of the other beautiful cities in Spain. There are many world heritage sites in Spain in fact it ranks second to Italy for the most in the world. This is because the country has such a fascinating history. The conquest of the Moors makes Spanish history and architecture different from any other in western Europe. It has a much more diverse cultural legacy and it is one of the countries that everybody should visit.
Almost everybody agrees that the most beautiful city in Spain is Barcelona. It is by far the most visited city in the country and for good reason. Barcelona is well known for it's architecture and this is what makes it such a beautiful city. It also has a medieval quarter that is well worth a visit to see the history of the city. Barcelona's place as the top tourist attraction in Spain is a fairly recent occurrence, it has only been in the last twenty years or so that the city has attracted a lot of tourists. This is the result of the government making a concerted effort to turn the city into an attractive destination. By all accounts they have succeeded admirably.
The other major city in Spain is Madrid, the capital and the largest city in the country. Madrid is not as popular as Barcelona and generally isn't regarded as being as beautiful since it lacks the spectacular architecture. It is however still well worth a visit. Madrid is a huge sprawling city that moves at frenetic pace. It is also the most diverse city in Spain and one of the most diverse in the world. Madrid has a lot to offer the tourist and is well worth the visit.
Some of the most beautiful cities in Spain are the ones that feature the Muslim architecture from the days when they were ruled by the Moors. Cities like Cordoba, Grenada and Toledo were the main centers of the Moorish occupation and have the historical sites to prove it. There are many mosques as well as Moorish fortresses that make these cities some of the most interesting to visit.

The country has had such an interesting history and one that is so different from it's neighbours that it is unique amongst western European nations. No country in the region has been influenced by so many different cultures. Spain is one of those countries that just has to be visited.
